Field House

Let’s start with the plot – a sizeable space stretching to the horizon around fields, hills, free clumps of trees and ponds. No visible buildings around, forests in the distance. Silence and quiet.

The baseline data was obvious, we felt the same spirit of the place as the investors after finding out this dream location for themselves. A modern house was to be built, in the type of a modern barn combining simplicity with the style of a country cottage type house. Therefore, it can be said that the spirit of tradition and modernity were combined.

Nowadays, a multiplicity of styles prevails, and it is not necessary to look for one leading trend, which will be clear in newly constructed buildings or interiors. The search for a unique form and experiments carried out on the borderline of individual styles can bring unique, often surprising results. It was no different in the case of presented interior design.

The project uses natural materials applied in economic buildings such as wood and stone. It was important to show wooden construction in the interiors, as it brings to mind the multi-generational tradition of carpentry. However, the wood used was not aged, on the contrary, the pristine character of the uniform, light-colored wood was emphasized. The wood motif is smoothly interwoven throughout the house, creating a common base for the composition. Nevertheless, in order to break the monotony, wood of a more deep and elegant shade was also introduced. The whole is complemented by stone, graywacke, which adds character to this concept. It is worth looking at the fireplace in the living area, which becomes a vertical dominant for the entire layout. In the interiors, it is extremely important to maintain the right proportions between the various materials, so white and gray have also been introduced, which bring tranquility.

The entrance to the house invites us with a wide vestibule, leading to the interior of this building. A glass door provides a thermal barrier, but allows a peek inside. At the end of the corridor, a large glass window was designed, making any visitor curious about the further part of the house. The entrance hallway leads to the living area and the master bedroom, which are separated by a beautiful aquarium – the investor’s hobby.

The open living room is connected to the dining room and kitchen. The spacious and transparent character is provided by extensive glazing, which further opens the house to the surrounding pristine landscape. From the living area, it is possible to freely go to the winter garden, which allows for a complete change of environment. It is a place where you can breathe deeply, gather your thoughts and contemplate over a cup of good tea.
