Field House is a home formed by two interconnected barns. In one of them the extensive master bedroom area is located – along with a private bathroom and dressing room, ancillary rooms and a garage. In the second one, on the other hand, there is a spacious living area with a mezzanine entrance and children’s rooms, which have been separated from the living room by a glass connector, in which we designed a winter garden. One of the objectives was also to uncover the wooden structure in the interiors in order to emphasize natural materials and the multi-generational tradition of carpentry. Check our thatched roof house in which tradition meets modernity.
Despite the large area, the house does not overwhelm in size. This is all due to the division into two buildings – this made the form more subtle. In the living area we used a “break” of the solid, where we planned a glass connector. This divides the house functionally, while giving lightness and allowing greenery to penetrate through the development.
The simple and effective functional layout is crowned by an elegant facade made of slate and stone, which is complemented by roofing also finished in slate. Glazing elements that we like have also found their place in this project, opening up the living room, dining room and kitchen to the surrounding greenery and light streaming in.
