The subject of our work were two historic objects - over 100-year old former school building and a barn with a beautiful, original, wooden structure of a roof truss and partly of walls (Prussian wall). According to the Investor's wishes, we have kept the maximum amount of the original substance, gently changing the internal layout of the buildings, in order to adapt them to the new restaurant function with accommodation places in the attic. The connector we introduced communicated existing buildings, creating at the same time an internal courtyard, an intimate space for users. The newly built part has been mostly glazed to promote the integration of guests but also to not constitute a barrier between the courtyard and the back of the plot intended for the grill part. In addition, the materials used blend in well with the existing ones by using the same materials as existing ones at the pedestal and buttress of the main building.
